The Fir Tree

It´s near to christmas now, and I´ll take the opportunity to post the wonderful fairytail The Fir Tree from Hans Christian Andersen. I know it since I was a child, and I´m glad I found the illustration I used to look at.
Make yourself a mug of coffee, grab a biscuit and let´s get soppy together, it´s so much wisdom in this piece of literature.

London - Northern Heights Parkland Walk, Finsbury Park, Haringey

After two days cold and rain, the sun came out. I decided to walk the Northern Heights Parkland Walk from Alexandra Palace to Finsbury Park. This former railway track was built in order to serve Alexandra Palace, but missed joining the London's Underground in the Second World War.
This day started with sun and starlings were singing, feel invited to come with me for a walk!

Here is the link to the friends of the Parkland Walk.

London - Islington, Chapel Market, Kings Cross

Another sunny day, took the bus some stations to Islington.

Central London

Nice and sunny monday today, with 91 bus down to the central parts of London.

London - Alexandra Palace, Crouch End, Hornsey

At least, here are some pictures from the region where I'm staying in London. Unfortunately there is a lack of representative landmarks.
So let us take Alexandra Palace at first, then go right down into Crouch End and it's farmer's market, and back to Hornsey.

Saint Lucy's Day

The 13th of december is a day in Sweden for celebrating Sankta Lucia. The youth is wearing white long dresses, some girls are Lucia, they are carrying a wreath with light on the head. Early in the morning they go singing and serving breakfast, for example Lussebullar, for their parents and friends. This celebration is known since 1780. About hundred years earlier, the day before Lucia was known as the shortest day of the year.
